Wage / Hours :

19 / hr

40 hrs / week

Tuesday-Saturday (75% on-site, including Saturdays)

Summary :

Working with the Executive Director and the WFM2Go Manager, the coordinator will be tasked with implementing marketing strategies in support of a number of services offered by the Wolfville Farmers’ Market including the Saturday Market, WFM2Go.ca, Rentals and foodartnature.ca. They will also be responsible for coordinating our established volunteer program.

The Marketing and Volunteer Coordinator position is an opportunity for someone who is passionate about the local economy, local food system, and the community.

Responsibilities : Promotions

• Implementing the Marketing Strategy for the Saturday Market, WFM2Go, foodartnature (experiential tourism business), and the WFM’s rentals program
• Take the lead on the social media calendar and weekly e-news’ by creating content using creative writing, video, photography, and stills
• Updating the WFM website
• Adding music and events to Valley Events website
• Supporting ads for the Grapevine
• Organizing special Saturday Market events (ex. Farm Fun Day, Pumpkin Palooza, Get Un-Scrooged, For the Love of Community)
• Tasks during the Saturday Market, along with social media related activities include, set-up and tear-down, booking musicians, facilitating our 50 / 50 draw and customer counts

Volunteer Coordination

• Recruiting and Orienting Volunteers
• Working with partnering organizations (Flower Cart, Horton High School) to monitor availability and support requirements;
• Scheduling volunteers by maintaining the 4 month volunteer schedule ensuring all required shifts are filled;
• Send weekly reminders to enlisted volunteers at least one day ahead of their schedule; adjust for unexpected absences as required;
• Interact with WFM staff to ensure that volunteers are supported
• Track volunteer hours through to provide an annual total for volunteer hours.
• Supporting and recognizing volunteers by providing job descriptions and relevant volunteer supporting materials (policies, FAQs, contact / staff info);
• Meet with new volunteers and interact with volunteers especially on Tuesdays (WFM2Go) and Saturday Market days when possible;
• Follow-up with new volunteers to ensure they are supported and well-placed;
• Thanks volunteers often and regularly for their contributions (remind staff of the need to do the same!).

Qualifications and Skills Required :

• Demonstrated Marketing Experience
• Experience developing, creating, and implementing social media content
• Photography and videography for social media purposes
• Passionate creative thinker with strong writing skills
• Graphic design skills using canva considered an asset
• Must be personable, friendly and outgoing with a comfort level of recruiting and supporting volunteers
• Demonstrated planning, organizational, and time management skills
• Able to work in a self directed manner as well as part of a team
• Demonstrated professionalism, dependability, and attention to detail
• Experience with Google Drive, Canva, Mailchimp, and social media planning software considered an asset
