The Senior Contracts Accountant contributes to the organization by providing senior-level financial oversight and compliance for complex grant and contract portfolios, ensures feasibility, accuracy, and documentation of expenditures in accordance with funder requirements, manages expenditure tracking, invoicing, drawdowns, and GL reconciliation, prepares and reviews financial reports and reimbursement requests, interprets contract terms and resolves billing or budget issues, supports audits, monitoring reviews, and responses to funder inquiries, identifies and mitigates financial and compliance risk, supports budget development, amendments, and internal control improvements, maintains financial records and receipts, prepares financial reports and analysis using SAP S/4HANA and other systems, assist with special projects and advice on financial status.

The Senior Contracts Accountant enhances the reputation of the organization by playing a critical role in an evolving grants contract management infrastructure and participates in the financial management and accounting activities associated with government and/or non-profit grants. This position analyzes post award grants accounting to ensure compliance with Cost Principles as outlined in 2 CFR Part 200 Subpart E and all other applicable jurisdictional accounting requirements.

The Senior Contracts Accountant will work as a part of a close-knit team to play a key role in various ad-hoc analysis, process improvement, and analyze risks that affect profitability, growth, and productivity.

Requirements: Undergraduate Degree in Business or Related. Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping required

  • Grant and contract accounting expertise a plus

  • Strong knowledge of compliance and cost principles

  • Budgeting, expenditure tracking, and reconciliation skills

  • Financial reporting and invoicing/drawdown experience

  • Audit and monitoring support experience (Single Audit, funder reviews)

  • Ability to interpret contract and grant terms accurately

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • High attention to detail and documentation discipline

  • Proficiency with SAP S/4Hana or other accounting systems and Excel

  • Clear communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
