I am looking for a GIS and Data Management Specialist who excels at leveraging geospatial data and innovative mapping solutions to drive impactful decision-making. In this role, your success will be measured by your ability to develop and implement GIS strategies, optimize data management workflows, and deliver high-quality spatial analysis that enhances project outcomes. This opportunity is with a Canadian-owned and operated environmental consultancy committed to excellence in regulatory and resource management solutions.
Remote / WFH / Hybrid : 100% Remote anywhere in Canada
Salary : $110k - $130k, with benefits, RRSP matching, annual bonus (The final salary will be determined based on qualifications, relevant experience, expertise, and professional designations. Candidates who exceed these requirements or bring additional value to the team may receive a salary outside the specified range.)

Key Performance Objectives :
Develop and Implement a GIS Strategy
Create and execute a GIS strategy that enhances my clients capabilities in geospatial analysis, data management, and visualization across key business areas (regulatory, reclamation and closure, human environment, and water stewardship).
Align GIS solutions with company objectives, ensuring integration with ongoing projects and operational workflows.
Optimize GIS Data Management and Analysis
Establish and standardize GIS workflows for data acquisition, processing, and visualization.
Ensure spatial data accuracy and compliance with QA / QC processes, improving efficiency and reducing errors in project deliverables.
Introduce automation for routine GIS tasks to enhance productivity.
Enhance GIS Capabilities for Project Support
Support major projects by delivering high-quality GIS solutions, including mapping, modeling, and spatial analysis for land use planning, reclamation, and cumulative effects assessments.
Develop GIS-based decision-support tools that improve environmental and resource planning outcomes.
Leadership and Mentorship
Support staff in their GIS-related tasks by providing guidance, troubleshooting assistance, and best practices to ensure effective use of GIS applications in their work.
Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior GIS specialists, fostering professional development and team growth.
Business Development and Client Support
Identify GIS-driven business opportunities or process improvements.
Actively engage with internal and external stakeholders to demonstrate GIS capabilities and secure new GIS-related projects.
Integration of Advanced GIS Technologies
Assess and implement cutting-edge GIS technologies, including geospatial modeling, 3D analysis (LiDAR, MineSight, XPAC), and automation tools, ensuring my client remains at the forefront of GIS innovation.
Lead the adoption of new GIS tools or methodologies that enhance project efficiency.
Budget and Resource Management
Develop and manage GIS-related budgets for projects, ensuring cost-effectiveness and alignment with company financial objectives.
Establish a GIS resource plan that aligns staffing and technology investments with project demand.
Success Metrics :
- Reduction in GIS-related project turnaround time.
- Improved GIS data accuracy and standardization, reducing project revisions.
- Effective GIS integration into key projects, ensuring spatial data supports regulatory and permitting decisions.
- Positive feedback from internal teams and clients on GIS contributions to project outcomes.
- Growth of GIS service offerings, contributing to new business opportunities.
