WHO WE ARE
The Thompson Rivers University Student Investment Fund (TRUSIF) is a long-only equity / ETF-focused fund with $100,000 in assets under management, run uniquely by volunteer students. TRUSIFs' purpose is to create student scholarships with our excess returns through a real-world experience for students interested in capital markets and wealth management careers. Our team supports and challenges each other to reach our potential, make a difference in our community and achieve mutual success.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Position title : Research Analyst (RA)
An RA is a key member who :
- Participates in due diligence processes for new investment ideas
- Interprets financial statements, earnings calls and market / industry data
- Assist in updating and creating financial models
- Ad hoc, suggests new investment ideas at weekly meetings
- Updates company data for equities that TRUSIF owns
- An idea of what they want from TRUSIF and how they can contribute
- Examples of how they're a strong team player who seeks out responsibility
- Shows interest in capital markets and wealth management careers
- The drive to go the extra mile when necessary and isn't afraid to fail
- Clear verbal and written communication skills
- A minimum of 1 full year left in their program which is in finance, accounting, economics, STEM or related
- More than 1 year left in your program
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Understanding of financial accounting and company valuation topics
- Comprehensive training designed to bridge knowledge gaps. Students will begin training upon joining TRUSIF
