Job description

Ready to build your career? We want to hear from you.

As an Environmental Advisor on Pomerleau's environmental team, you will be primarily responsible for the execution of environmental requirements on our construction sites in the Montreal area, including LEED certification activities for large-scale building and infrastructure construction projects - ranging from $ million to over $1 billion. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with project management teams on several construction sites. You will be responsible for ensuring environmental compliance of construction activities, implementation of environmental management plans and achievement of LEED objectives.

What you will do

  • Conduct site visits and support the site team in the execution of work in compliance with LEED certification and all environmental requirements associated with the project.
  • Provide environmental advice to project teams on various environmental issues and obligations (monitoring the quality of water discharges, dust, contaminated soils, storage of hazardous residual materials, permits & authorizations, storage and disposal of residual materials, noise and other nuisances, etc.).
  • Develop environmental plans and programs and ensure their implementation by supporting worksite teams and carrying out on-site activities ( management of demolition materials and construction residues, residual hazardous materials, erosion control, management of contaminated soils, etc.).
  • Maintain up-to-date environmental performance indicators (non-compliances, spills, residual materials, best practices, etc.).
  • Cooperate and assist professionals and the project team in meeting LEED objectives and target point requirements.
  • Report as soon as possible any apparent deviation from requirements that could affect environmental and LEED certification obligations. Open non-conformance reports as required.
  • Proactively find solutions to deviations and requirements.
  • Carry out various activities related to the implementation of Pomerleau's Environmental Management System (EMS) on job sites.

This role could be for you if you have

  • University degree in environment, sustainable development, engineering, geology or similar field.
  • 3+ years experience as an environmental technician or consultant.
  • Experience on a construction site or in an industrial field.
  • Good knowledge of the environmental issues and impacts that a construction project may face.
  • General knowledge of provincial and municipal environmental regulations.
  • Fluency in both official languages written and oral (English and French).
  • You must have a valid driver's license and a vehicle to move around on the various sites.
  • Additional Asset Include :
