CoreFactor is searching for a Financial Controller on a full-time/permanent basis for a client located in Southwestern, Ontario.


This position is onsite and requires the successful incumbent to be in the office 5 times per week.


Position Summary


The Controller will be responsible to oversee the daily financial and monthly accounting close and ensuring accuracy in data and reporting, and compliance with established accounting standards and procedures. This position will interact closely with other internal team members as well as suppliers, customers, and auditors. For this role, there will be time sensitive processes and documents as well as confidentiality requirements. The Controller will be expected to ensure delivery of monthly financial statements and management reports, implement, and monitor key controls, review processes and make recommendations for improvements and help in budgeting/forecasting. This position reports to the Function Leader or their designate.


Responsibilities:

  • Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results
  • Coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting
  • Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes
  • Establishing and maintaining internal controls
  • Managing all aspects of the general ledger
  • Providing monthly, quarterly, and year-end analyses
  • Coordinating or assisting with the budget process
  • Analytical analysis of cost changes
  • Support in the preparation of timely and accurate financial statements including working paper preparation, variance analysis and commentary
  • Internal and External reporting
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting
  • Expense tracking and analysis
  • Ledger Management, Reconciliations & Journal Entries
  • Assistance with the preparation of the year-end financial statement audit package requirements
  • Manage timeline to meet deadlines
  • Coordination with multiple departments
  • Complete special project work as required
  • Ad hoc Reporting Assistance
  • Researching accounting issues for compliance with accepted accounting principles
  • Analyzing and reporting cost variances
  • Serving as a liaison to external auditors
  • Supervising accounts receivable, accounts payable and general accounting departments



Requirements

  • Exceptional knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure, reporting etc.) and possess a recognized accounting designation (CPA) or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5-7 years general accounting experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma or equivalent experience
  • Computer skills (Working knowledge):
    • Microsoft products
    • Visual Basic (Preferred not required)



Requirements
Post-secondary education in Engineering or related technical discipline from an accredited college or university. Knowledge of core development principles (e.g. algorithms and data structure, OOP, design patterns, SOLID principles) 2+ years of experience in programming (Python, C#, JavaScript, XML). Comfortable using relational databases and SQL. Ability to analyze problems and find solutions. Ability to work in an industrial environment (i.e., Work in a dusty, hot, non-climate-controlled environment; with stairs, frequent walking, standing and occasional lifting of material). Must excel at working independently and in group settings. Must have an aptitude to multitask effectively. Experience using a Version Control System (Git).
