SUMMARY :

Merit Services is seeking a skilled Marine Technician to join our client’s dynamic team in Saskatchewan. As a Marine Technician, your expertise in technical skills, problem-solving, and understanding of marine systems will be crucial in maintaining the efficient performance and safety of our marine operations. RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Regularly inspect, maintain, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on ships and other marine vessels.
  • Smartly carry out the installation, problem-solving, and restoration of marine equipment such as propulsion systems, navigational instruments, and communication devices.
  • Conduct diagnostic examinations and employ specialized instruments to detect and rectify equipment malfunctions.
  • Provide support in the setup and initiation of fresh maritime machinery and systems.
  • Regularly inspect safety equipment and ensure adherence to marine regulations and standards.
  • Provide support in organizing and carrying out maintenance plans, with the aim of minimizing the amount of time that vessels are unavailable for use.
  • Keep precise documentation of maintenance tasks, repairs done on equipment, and spare parts inventory.
  • Engage in teamwork with fellow marine technicians and engineers to effectively address intricate technical challenges.
  • Take part in emergency preparedness exercises and protocols to guarantee the well-being of both staff and travelers.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Diploma or degree in Marine Technology, Marine Engineering, or a similar area of study.
  • Appropriate hands-on experience in tasks related to marine maintenance, repair, or other relevant technical positions.
  • Solid understanding of marine systems encompassing propulsion, electrical, hydraulic, and navigational systems.
  • High level of competence in the diagnostic devices and machinery employed for marine maintenance and repair.
  • Proficiency in marine regulations and safety standards.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capability to thrive in challenging marine conditions.
