Job description

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training And Experience

  • Graduate of a recognized Respiratory Therapy education program; and
  • Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT) certification; and
  • Certified Respiratory Educator (CRE); including completion of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) course, Asthma course, and Education for Chronic Disease Course; and
  • Current CPR level "C" or BLS HCP certificate; and
  • Minimum of 3 years' respiratory care experience within the past 5 years, in a variety of treatment settings such as hospital, emergency, and at least one year experience in community and/or outpatient care; and
  • Specific training and practice in pulmonary rehabilitation, asthma education, respiratory home care, home ventilation and sleep disorders; and
  • Knowledge of current technologies and treatments for acute and chronic respiratory conditions such as pneumonia, COPD and asthma; and
  • Experience in policy/procedural development and quality improvement initiatives; and
  • Current membership or eligible for membership in the B.C. Society of Respiratory Therapists; and
  • Valid BC driver's license.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with clients, caregivers, families, physicians, hospital and Community Health Services staff, and other community agencies

  • Ability to function effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team
  • Ability to plan, organize, set priorities and follow through
  • Ability to use a computer
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
