As the Director of Community Services , you will lead with vision and provide strategic guidance to the Community Services team, driving the achievement of both departmental and organizational objectives. This role involves building in-depth knowledge of all community service programs, establishing effective risk management policies, and cultivating strong partnerships with the National Office, government agencies, NGOs, and other essential stakeholders.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES AS THE DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY SERVICES :

  • Provide leadership and oversight for the community services team to achieve meeting or exceeding departmental and organizational goals
  • Develop expertise in all community service programs and support them as necessary
  • Establish risk management policies and procedures for volunteer management and service delivery, including liability concerns
  • Build and maintain partnerships with the National Office, other Councils, Government agencies, NGOs, and community and emergency organizations
  • Ensure volunteers have access to necessary resources and promote a supportive environment that results in a high level of volunteer engagement and retention
  • Represent the Council on national committees and relevant external boards to advance strategic goals, foster innovation and continuous improvement in programs and impact
  • Manage the human resources of the department to include staff and volunteers, performance measurement and evaluation, employee relations and compliance with internal policies
  • WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR IN A DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY SERVICES :

  • Post Secondary Degree in Community Development, Recreation Management, NGO Management or related studies
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in a Not for Profit leading a diverse group of volunteers across multiple programs
  • Prior experience working in a Not-for-Profit position that is community based
  • Ability to obtain and hold certification as Medical First Responder
  • Passionate, decisive and open communicator
  • Proven team collaborator and big picture thinker
  • Excellent organizational and decision-making skills
