Base pay range

$21.00 / hr - $30.00 / hr

As a Bakery Decorator, you'll be responsible for creating and decorating cakes, tarts, pastries, and special-order items. You'll use your artistic talents to build and finish all bakery goods, ensuring quality and attention to detail. You'll also support our core values, promote company programs, and ensure food safety compliance.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assemble, fill, and decorate cakes, tarts, and special-order bakery items.
  • Build, ice, and decorate bakery items following standard procedures to meet demand.
  • Prioritize production and recommend adjustments as needed.
  • Display products attractively and monitor quality and freshness.
  • Support and guide Bakery Decorator Apprentices and team members.
  • Create custom cake designs based on customer preferences.
  • Provide excellent customer service, addressing customer needs promptly.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in the work environment.
  • Perform opening, mid, and closing duties accurately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skill Requirements

  • Proficient in cake and pastry decorating, including piping and decorative flowers.
  • Understand color theory for blending and coordinating colors.
  • Ability to work with various icings and apply proper techniques.
  • Follow recipes and procedures accurately with good time management.
  • Safe use of tools and equipment, including knives and heavy machinery.
  • Basic math skills for recipe adjustments.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

    • Experience

  • 6-12 months retail or restaurant experience preferred.
  • Completion of Bakery Decorator Apprentice program or equivalent experience.

    • Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

  • Lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand / walk for 6-8 hours in an 8-hour shift.
  • Use hands for grasping, manipulation, and pushing / pulling.
  • Work involves bending, twisting, squatting, reaching.
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals and varying temperatures.
  • Work in wet and dry conditions, flexible schedule including nights, weekends, holidays.
  • Use of tools and equipment, ladders may be required.
