Job description
We are seeking a Senior Data Science Developer to join a high-performing product team focused on architecting and implementing modernized cloud-based data solutions. This role is central to the transition of legacy data pipelines to a sophisticated Lakehouse architecture. You will be responsible for designing and maintaining automated pipelines, developing analytics models, and enforcing development standards across collaborative data projects. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in the Azure Databricks ecosystem and a proven track record of migrating legacy workloads to Delta Lake-based solutions.

Pay Rate: $57.6- $63.04/Hr

Advantages

Responsibilities
- Design, create, and maintain cloud-based data lake and lakehouse structures following the Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold).

- Lead the migration of legacy pipelines from Azure Synapse and ADF (including stored procedures and views) to native Databricks orchestration leveraging Delta Lake.

- Code and implement automated data pipelines and analytics models using Python and SQL.

- Support the creation of reusable frameworks and standards to streamline pipeline creation across the organization.

- Enforce development standards through code reviews in GitHub and leverage tools like Databricks Unity Catalog for robust data governance.

- Liaise with IT colleagues to resolve operational problems and support business partners in the effective use of analytics products.

- Prepare technical documentation and conduct knowledge transfer sessions to promote team sharing and maintain high code quality.

Qualifications
- Azure Expertise (5+ Years): Extensive experience in a Microsoft Azure environment using ADLS, Synapse, and Azure Storage.

- Data Engineering (5+ Years): Proven experience building and orchestrating pipelines with Azure Data Factory (ADF) and Databricks.

- High proficiency in Python and SQL for complex data engineering and analytics tasks.

- Strong background in Agile team environments and CI/CD practices for automating data solution deployments.

- Familiarity with Unity Catalog and the Delta Lake format.

- Strong analytical problem-solving skills; ability to identify alternatives and recommend solutions for multi-component failures.
