Electrical Design Technologist (ASET) / Electrical Design Engineer (APEGA) for one of our prestigious clients based in
Fort Saskatchewan, AB Electrical Design Technologist (ASET) / Electrical Design Engineer (APEGA) Contract length - 12 + Month Assignment Location: Fort Saskatchewan, AB Mon to Friday Onsite role Pay range for Electrical Design Technologist (ASET) - $60 - $70/hr Depending on Experience level Pay range for Electrical Designer (APEGA) - $65 - $80/hr Depending on Experience level Key Job Responsibilities - Works with other Design Engineers and Project Engineers to develop and implement assigned projects identified in the Plant Specific Technology Plan (PSTP), working within company-specific Project Methodology.
- Interacts with all disciplines to minimize disconnects and errors in the design.
- Responsible for all design tasks on the project from initial conception through contract issue, construction, and commissioning/startup, including calculations, layout, routing and equipment/material selection and justification, coordination, and support for estimating and scheduling as applicable.
- Check the accuracy, completeness, and quality of any aspect of design on the project.
- Participate in the layout of the plant and equipment taking into account process considerations, constructability, operability, and maintainability of the facilities.
- Prepare material specifications for inquiry and order, transmittals, and bid evaluation. Ensure use of the
- Approved Supplier Lists (ASL) and/or support, justify, and facilitate changes to ASL.
- Ensure that environmental, Safety and Loss Prevention principles are used in the design.
- Ensure that designs comply with applicable industry codes and standards including Canadian Electrical Code, and company defined Most Effective Technology (MET), global practices and specifications.
- Provides day-to-day plant support as required.
- Actively participates in plant EH&S program.
- Completes assigned actions.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience - Minimum of 4-year Bachelor of Engineering Degree with P.Eng. designation in Electrical Engineering or Technology Diploma with CET designation.
- Must be a registered member of APEGA or ASET
- Familiarity with MicroStation, AutoCad or other drafting software.
- 5 to 15 years of electrical design engineering experience
- Experience working with various aspects of electrical engineering including but not limited to Switchgears, Motor Control Centers, Power & Control Cables, Network Cables (Fiber/Cat5), Raceways, Cable Trays,Lighting, Grounding, Electrical Heat Tracing (EHT), Uninterruptible Power Supply Systems (UPS), Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Electrical Protection Relays, Low & Medium Voltage Motors, and Power & Distribution Transformers.
- Knowledge and experience following project execution methodology in a petrochemical facility.
- Experience with control system wiring and hardware specification as it relates to DCS and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) is an asset.
- Experience with instrument specification is an asset but not required.
