Chief Financial Officer and VP, Administration

British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT)

Location : Burnaby, BC

For over 60 years, the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) has been a provincial leader in delivering future-proof education. As one of Canada’s largest polytechnics, with over 45,000 students annually and an approximate budget of $370M, BCIT is widely recognized for its innovation, flexibility and market relevance.

Through its unique applied education model, BCIT is connecting education, industry, and government in ways that fuels growth and resilience in British Columbia. BCIT equips graduates to anticipate and conquer the complex challenges of our day and plays a unique role in the educational landscape of the province. BCIT programs are developed through close consultation with industry and delivered by instructors who have direct experience in their fields.

With the planned departure of a successful Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and VP, Administration, an exciting opportunity exists in the role of CFO and VP, Administration for this dynamic organization. Leading a diverse portfolio that includes finance, campus development, information technology and procurement this executive will be joining one of BC’s most entrepreneurial post secondaries in a period that will demand (of all post secondaries in Canada) increased financial self-sufficiency. BCIT, with the help of a talented and experienced CFO and VP, Administration, will be in a unique position to leverage its assets in new ways - from its significant land holdings, to its strong partnerships with industry, government and others. A strong team is in place under the CFO and VP, Administration and have systems improvements, redevelopment and other key initiatives in the starting gates.

Reporting directly to the President and working closely with internal and external community, this individual will bring a proven track record in an executive position where finance and other aspects of corporate services have flourished under their leadership. An accounting or related financial designation is strongly preferred, as is a working knowledge of public sector or post-secondary. Exposure to real estate development will be seen as an asset. The CFO and VP, Administration will be passionate about serving at an award-winning polytechnic institute with an important and highly relevant mandate, bringing the requisite business acumen, innovative spirit, rigour, agility, global view and forward-thinking vision to preserve and enhance BCIT’s reputation.

This role is based at BCIT’s main campus in Burnaby.
