Overview
We're looking for an experienced Investigations Officer to investigate workers rights in order to achieve divisional objectives to protect workers rights.
If you are an investigator with several years of experience conducting statutory enforcement investigations, we want to hear from you. In this role, you'll bring your investigative and major case management experience with you and be part of a team that identifies causes of failures to protect workers rights in order to help prevent them in the future.
How you'll make a difference : You'll help ensure B.C. workers go home safely at the end of their workday.
Where you'll work
At WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines the convenience of working remotely with the dynamism of working in one of our offices, based on the operational needs of the position.
In this role, you'll work three or more days a week in our Richmond office.
What you'll do
- Use your extensive experience in investigating workers rights to identify causes, make recommendations, and pursue enforcement actions, up to and including prosecution, if appropriate
- Collect, analyze, and organize large amounts of complex and technical information and physical evidence, and prepare comprehensive written reports
- Apply relevant sections of the Workers Compensation Act and the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation in a highly visible forum
- Participate in administrative proceedings and prosecutorial cases by providing written briefs and testimony as to facts obtained through personal observation, witness statements, and examination of documentary and physical evidence
- Make recommendations to promote health and safety awareness and prevent injuries and diseases
- Present to both internal and external stakeholders on investigations and occupational health and safety issues
