Job description

Brandt is currently seeking a Leadhand for our Barrie Peterbilt branch. This position is responsible for coordinating and directing the workload of the Service department for maximum efficiency and productivity while providing quality repair work; advises makes recommendations to Shop Foreman and Service Manager regarding technician skills and training needed

Please note this position is a Wednesday through Saturday shift : 7 : 00am-6 : 00pm.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assists with the assignment of jobs and work areas to Service Department employees according to their skill and knowledge.
  • Assist in the appraisal of repair orders coming into the Service Department and may participate in repairs, and review repair orders for accuracy and completeness
  • Manage workflow through assessing the urgency of the request and shop priorities
  • Directs and assists technicians and apprentices in the diagnosis of machine problems
  • Inspects and repairs all special tools; recommends new tooling as required
  • Advises Shop Foreman or Service Manager of all customer complaints
  • Assists the Shop Foreman or Service Manager with coordinating and conducting quarterly safety meetings
  • May arrange for and participate in reconditioning of used equipment and setup of new equipment
  • May approve the release of equipment for delivery to customer
  • May assist in providing performance feedback for service technicians and staff to the Service Manager
  • Maintain 90% Tech efficiency
  • Inspect all machines leaving shop, ensuring all repairs are done correctly
  • Review all prework, machine care and off warranty inspections
  • Contribute to Health and Safety Inspections
  • Ability to work multiple shift patterns, including evenings and weekends to meet business needs
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Ability to use standard desktop applications
  • Required Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience as a heavy duty service technician
  • Journeyman certificate required
  • Class 1 driver’s license considered an asset
  • Forklift license preferred
