The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who understands the end-to-end lifecycle of international payments and can collaborate effectively with banks, fintech partners, and internal technology teams also to innovate and collaborate on the value-driven goals in delivering customer value. You will engage in a fast-paced and challenging environment, with opportunities to build new relationships and learn how you can make an impact in the competitive, trillion-dollar, Payments industry. You will be exposed to a wide range of businesses both internally and externally, then leveraging Scotiabank’s strong technology base, build and develop on strategic, forward-looking infrastructure.

What You’ll Do:

Day-to-Day

  • Lead the analysis, documentation, and validation of business requirements ensuring all the decisions and requirements changes are properly captured
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and technology teams across the bank as well as external partners to deliver the end-to-end solution
  • Translate complex business needs into clear and concise functional requirements and user stories
  • Facilitate workshops and working sessions with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze requirements
  • Contribute to design and optimization of payment processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements
  • Support scrum master and project manager in planning, scoping, and impact analysis for initiatives
  • Perform gap analysis, root cause assessments, and release readiness reviews for payment system enhancements or upgrades
  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for payment-related projects and operational improvements as well as SWIFT connectivity.
  • Monitor post-implementation performance and incident resolution
  • Must be able to work within tight deadlines and schedules which may result in extended working hours during peak time to meet project deliverables
  • Mentor and coach less experienced team members
  • Support various portfolio initiatives where possible
  • Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge
  • Champion a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment
  • Experience and willingness to execute various test cycles

What You'll Bring:

  • Manage and support SWIFT payment flows (MT and MX formats)
  • Experience with ISO 20022 standards.
  • Solid understanding of payment processing lifecycle and reconciliation processes.
  • Experience working with banks, fintechs, or financial institutions.
  • Strong expertise in business process mapping, requirements gathering & documenting and system analysis
  • Core analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders, translating complex information into clear insights
  • Ability to conduct gap analysis on different payment standards
  • Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders across the bank
  • Ability to quickly adapt and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Ability to proactively identify project risks and contribute to overall project health and success
  • Proficiency in using Jira / Confluence/ MS Office
  • Payments Domain Knowledge in SWIFT, Fedwire and ISO 20022 is an asset
  • Experience working in Agile project methodology
  • Professional English proficiency (written and spoken).

Nice to have:

  • Knowledge of SQL.
  • Experience working with databases.
  • Experience building dashboards or reports using Power BI.
  • Experience with APIs (REST/SOAP) and XML message structures.
  • Previous participation in large-scale payment transformation projects.
