Overview
WorkSafeBC is seeking a highly motivated Co-op Student, Community Relations & Events to support a wide range of initiatives that help strengthen our presence and impact in communities across the province. In this role, you will assist in enhancing our community outreach efforts, support community sponsorships and local events, contribute to the Community Relations & Events strategy.
You will also provide support for event planning and logistics, help maintain community engagement tools and resources and contribute to the development of practices that enable more effective connections with the communities we serve.
This is a four-month, full-time position starting in January 2026.
How you'll make a difference : You'll apply what you've learned in your post-secondary program to benefit workers and employers across B.C.
Where you'll work
At WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines working remotely, and in our offices based on the operational needs of the position.
In this role, you'll work primarily from your B.C. home and be on-site in our Richmond office at a minimum of twice per week.
What you'll do
On Day 1 in this role, you will get a chance to meet your manager and get acquainted with your team. You will spend time setting up administrative and technological essentials, and completing onboarding tasks, including security and payroll setup.
Throughout Week 1, you will be partnered with your mentor for training, work on completing training modules, and immersing yourself in the team and the department's work. Together with your manager, you will clarify your role's goals and how to achieve them.
You will be joining a new department to WorkSafeBC, and through your contributions, you will have a chance to leave your mark on our vision and success.
As an active member of the Stakeholder, Community, and Indigenous Relations (SCIR) team, you will work with team members in providing support to and developing elements of several projects and initiatives, which could include :
- Support planning and delivery of community events by coordinating logistics, communicating with organizers, preparing schedules and training materials, and attending events with onsite set-up and take-down support
- Develop event planning tools such as event briefs, checklists, summaries, and contribute to post-event reports and insights
- Help package Corporate and Community sponsorships (brochures, banners, swag items, etc.),
- Stakeholder, Community and Indigenous relationship management (SRM) system :
Working with team to update data in current system and develop mailing lists,
