POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking an experienced and driven Commodity Manager to join our Strategic Sourcing team in Winnipeg, with an initial focus on wire harnesses and electrical components. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role supporting a complex commodity area, where you will drive cost savings, supplier performance, and capacity strategies while helping to advance our overall harness sourcing approach. As you build expertise and demonstrate success, the scope of this role will expand to include additional commodities and broader strategic responsibilities within the sourcing organization. This position is ideal for someone with either direct harness/electrical experience or a strong background in strategic sourcing and cost analysis, who is looking to take ownership of a challenging and evolving portfolio.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Develops and executes supply strategies for wire harnesses and assigned electrical commodities
  • Analyze supplier pricing, capacity, and cost drivers to identify savings opportunities and mitigate risk
  • Build and maintain data-driven tools and models to support sourcing decisions and improve commodity visibility
  • Lead supplier selection, development, and performance management activities
  • Establish and maintain strong supplier relationships while holding suppliers accountable on cost, quality, and delivery
  • Support capacity planning and allocation of business across suppliers
  • Conduct regular supplier business reviews focused on continuous improvement and cost optimization
  • Negotiate pricing, long-term agreements (LTAs), and commercial terms as required
  • Partner cross-functionally with engineering and purchasing to support new product introductions and design changes
  • Ensure accurate system costing, pricing, and PPV tracking for assigned commodities
  • Support bid activities through supplier quotations and cost validation
  • Support the ongoing development and maturity of sourcing strategies, tools, and processes within the assigned commodity area
  • Gradually expand responsibility across additional commodities as expertise and performance are demonstrated

Requirements

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

Education:

  • University degree in a related field preferred
  • Completion of SCMP or relevant purchasing education is an asset

Experience:

  • At least 3 years of senior purchasing experience, strategic sourcing or supply chain in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong track record in supplier negotiation and relationship management
  • Comprehensive experience in Project Management

Skills:

  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Exposure to wire harnesses, electrical components, or similar manufactured assemblies is strongly preferred
  • Experience driving cost saving initiatives and conducting detailed price/cost analysis

Travel:

  • Up to 15%
