The work location can be in Montreal or Toronto.
Reporting to the AVP Commercial Credit, the incumbent is responsible for analyzing, recommending / approving (depending on the latitude allowed) a variety of commercial loan applications (including multi-unit and commercial real estate loans) based on the recommendations of business centres that are authorized make such loans across Canada. They also participate in the monitoring and management of credit risks, the development of credit policies and procedures, and assist business development staff in the interpretation of policies and the preparation and assembly of recommendations.
Generally, the Credit Sector is in charge authorizing, reviewing and managing credit risk for personal loans, residential mortgages, commercial mortgages and commercial loans. The sector is also responsible for the collection and delinquent account recovery procedures as well as the management and sale of repossessed properties and assets.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and approve or reject commercial loan amendment applications (including the multi-unit and the commercial portfolio)
- Develop delinquent account management strategies
- Quickly identify at-risk accounts and recommend corrective action
- Manage the development, maintenance and dissemination of credit policies and guidelines, make sure they are applied and respond to business centre inquiries
- Make recommendations to improve work processes
- Solve complex problems; take a new perspective on current solutions; exercise your own judgement by combining multiple sources of information, your own practical knowledge of your field as well as a basic understanding of related professional fields
- Act as a resource for less experienced colleagues and business partners
- Manage projects and project phases as part of larger projects
- Assist business centres in interpreting credit policies and procedures and, as required, in making their own recommendations
- Follow up as appropriate on business centre audit reports
- Keep up to date on the state of the economy, developments in the Canadian real estate sector, the competition and developments in the market
