Salary range (but not limited to):

59,300 - 72,500

Annual bonus target, based on the base salary, with a potential payout of up to double the target (subject to personal and company performance):

7.5%

Salary for the candidate will be determined taking into consideration a number of factors including: experience, skills, qualifications, anticipated contribution to role, internal equity, etc. The salary range presented above is based on a 35-hour workweek and would represent a majority of different candidate profiles. However, we encourage candidates who may fall outside of this range to apply as well.

About the role

We're looking for an Underwriter, Commercial Lines - P&C to join our team!

There are two permanent positions available. These positions are full-time hybrid roles that require a minimum of 2 days per week working in our Vancouver or Victoria, BC office.

We are open to candidates at the Underwriter Level I, II, or III for either position. The level will be determined based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

What you'll do here:

• Assess, evaluate and negotiate on moderate to complex risks.
• Participate In broker visits, Insurance Industry functions and marketing events in support of broker relationship development.
• Make recommendations to improve the department processes and increase efficiency.
• Analyze submissions for quotes and recommend innovative solutions
• Underwrite and rate policies in line with company guidelines
• Provides technical advice, recommendations, and mentoring to team members
• Develop an expert understanding of all relevant Commercial Underwriting Guides and procedures

What you bring to the table:

• Minimum 1 year of experience in an underwriter or underwriter assistant capacity for Level I position
• Minimum of 3 years of Commercial Lines underwriting experience for Level II position
• Minimum of 5 years of Commercial Lines underwriting experience for a Level III position.
• Candidates with previous Commercial Lines P&C experience will be prioritized
• Candidates with previous Contact CL experience an asset
• Very strong sales and customer service skills
• Completion of or progress toward a CIP designation is an asset
• Demonstrate the ability to handle complex risks
• Awareness of local community conditions and insurance issues
• Strong negotiating skills and business savvy
• Initiative and ability to work under pressure
• Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office products and computer tools.
• No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
