Job descriptionExercise independent judgment, discretion, diplomacy, and tact in handling confidential matters. Communicate effectively with the dental team, medical professionals, and external contacts. Work with dental terminologies, billing codes, and related systems. Navigate social services billing and understand system limitations. Engage in risk management and maintain high standards of infection control. Commit to ongoing education in the dental field. Proficient use of paperless systems, Tracker software, and CADI digital radiography. Apply strong analytical and creative problem‑solving skills for administrative and operational improvement. Maintain diligence, organization, accuracy, and attention to detail. Basic knowledge of non‑profit structure and processes, and understanding of social service structures for vulnerable, marginalized, and at‑risk clients. Interpret findings effectively in written and oral formats. Apply high standards of infection control and sterilization practices. Education : Graduation from a recognized Dental Hygiene program. Experience : Minimum of three years in a busy dental practice. Experience with marginalized peoples or mental health and substance use is an asset. Requirements : Member in good standing with the College of Dental Hygienists of British Columbia; successful completion of a Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General Criminal Record Check. Hourly Wage Rate : $37.89–$47.31, commensurate with experience. Work Location : Cool Aid Dental Clinic – 713 Johnson St. Schedule : Monday 8 : 30 AM–4 : 30 PM. Total Weekly Hours : 7.5. Registered Dental Hygienist – Cool Aid Dental Clinic
Join the Victoria Cool Aid Society as a professional, warm, and welcoming Registered Dental Hygienist. We are a well‑established not‑for‑profit practice in downtown Victoria with a client‑centred care focus and a trauma‑informed approach. The ideal candidate is culturally and socioeconomically sensitive, willing to learn, and committed to supporting others.
Responsibilities
- Conduct an assessment for each patient.
- Provide an appropriate treatment plan based on the assessment.
- Evaluate treatment outcomes and adjust the plan as needed.
- Determine the state of dental health using current and historical records and clinical observation.
- Explain recommended treatment, including cost, time, outcomes, benefits, and possible side effects; implement the agreed plan with the patient, dentist, and team.
- Monitor success or failure of the treatment plan and make necessary adjustments with patient and dentist agreement.
