Job descriptionYou have solid HVAC and sheet metal estimating experience in an ICI or mid-to-high-rise residential construction environment and understand how real projects are priced and built. You enjoy the technical side of estimating and working closely with operations and sales teams Minimum of three years of HVAC sheet metal estimating experience in ICI or mid to high rise residential construction Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and addendums Experience preparing estimates, RFQs, and bid packages Experience using take-off and estimating software (e.g., Trimble AutoBid) Understanding of how real construction projects are priced and delivered Long-term project pipeline and financial stability Strong internal estimating systems and experienced leadership Competitive compensation and Bonus Program Comprehensive benefits through MERIT Ontario Employer RRSP contributions Open shop contractor, offering a collaborative, flexible, and team-oriented work environment Friendly, family-oriented workplace culture Collaborative, team-based approach to all work activities Continuing education and professional development opportunities Fully insured and bonded employer Strong commitment to health and safety, with an exemplary WSIB record

Mattina Mechanical Limited (MML) is a well-established, privately owned mechanical contractor based in Hamilton, Ontario, with over 45 years of experience delivering HVAC and sheet metal projects across ICI and mid-to-high-rise residential construction. Known for strong project pipelines, experienced leadership, and long-term stability, MML is recognized for running well-organized, safety-focused projects and building lasting client relationships.
MML operates as an open-shop contractor in a performance-driven, team-oriented environment where opportunity is based on skill, commitment, and results.
This is a new vacancy within the estimating team.
Compensation Overview
This role offers a competitive base salary aligned to experience and estimating responsibility.
In addition to base salary, MML offers employer RRSP contributions, a comprehensive benefits program, and eligibility for a discretionary performance bonus based on company and individual performance.
What You'll Be Doing
In this role, the HVAC Sheet Metal Estimator works closely with the Chief Estimator on competitive bids, take-offs, and scope reviews for high-value mechanical projects.
- Preparing HVAC and sheet metal estimates using Trimble AutoBid and take-off software
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, and addendums
- Issuing RFQs to suppliers and subcontractors
- Preparing bid packages and scope letters
- Supporting handovers to project teams after award
- Reviewing actuals versus estimates to continuously improve accuracy
