Job descriptionMinimum 1-2 years’ experience working with children ages 6-11 in a camp setting or equivalent Emergency or Standard First Aid CPR-C National Lifeguard and / or Life Saving Society Swim Instructor certification is an asset but not required. High-Five certification is considered an asset. Strong guest focus – exceptional customer service skills, maintains professionalism with members and peers. Strong supervisory skills – confident leading groups of children, providing direction, and following through on behavioral issues. Organization - strong attention to detail, planning and preparation skills. Excellent communication skills – strong English communication skills both verbal and written. The Vancouver Lawn Tennis & Badminton Club (“the Club”) is the city’s premier racquets, fitness, and social Club. Located just a few minutes from downtown, the Club offers exceptional tennis, badminton, squash, fitness and aquatics programming for over 4,000 members, along with a variety of social events with upscale-casual dining in 3 restaurants.
We are recruiting for a Part-time Assistant Spring Break Camp Leader to join our team for Spring Break 2025.
Wage : $19 to $20 per hour
ABOUT THE POSITION
We provide effective and high-quality service to our members. We look for individuals who are committed team players and can be relied upon by others. This position is responsible for supervising and running daily camps for children ages 6-11 in a dynamic Members - only private club. Camp involves crafts, games, activities, and time in our heated, outdoor pool. Successful candidates must be comfortable in the water and have good swimming skills.
Hours of work :
Assistant Spring Break Camp Leader : Monday to Friday from 8 : 30 am - 1 : 15 pm
You must be available to work Monday-Friday March 17-21st and March 24-28, 2024.
Additional hours will be required for training prior to the start of camp.
Assistant Spring Break Camp Leader Duties include :
- Assist the Aquatics & Juniors Coordinator with camp planning including determining weekly crafts, games and activities
- Ensure a safe, fun and welcoming environment for all camp participants.
- Enforce camp rules and procedures and communicate these daily to camp participants to ensure safe and appropriate behavior at all times.
- Assigning participants to groups for the afternoon racquet sports portion of camp; communicating with sport coaches.
- Set up and preparation for each day of camp and clean up and organizing supplies.
- Keep accurate records of attendance including diligently enforcing sign-in and sign-out protocols with parents.
- Serving morning snack and taking lunch orders; assisting food and beverage staff with serving and cleaning up of lunch each day.
- Lead daily games, activities, crafts, and swimming / pool time including assisting younger participants with changing as required.
- Liaise with parents about behavior issues or other concerns as required.
- Attend to minor first aid incidents as needed (cuts, scrapes etc).
