POSITION SUMMARY :

The Production Planner will play a key role in ensuring efficient production scheduling and inventory management for Freshstone Brands Inc. (FBI). This position is responsible for developing and maintaining production plans that balance customer demand, operational capacity, and inventory levels. The Production Planner will work closely with manufacturing, procurement, and sales teams to align production activities with company objectives and customer requirements.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP & REPORTS :

This position will report directly to the Director of Inventory Management and Reporting.

FRESHSTONE BRANDS INC.

Freshstone Brands Inc. (“FBI”) is a premier manufacturer of high-quality prepared food products that services the retail, foodservice, and co-manufacturing channels. The Company’s products include branded and private label entrees, salads, sides, appetizers, hand-held foods, and other prepared foods. FBI supplies mostly fresh and some frozen items to major Canadian retailers for sale “behind the glass” or in packaged formats in the perimeter of the store, as well as to well-known foodservice customers, and some major branded food businesses under contract.

FBI manufactures its products in 6 manufacturing plants which are SQF Level 3 certified and which are strategically located across Canada, giving FBI critical mass, and geographic proximity to the strategically important US market.

With its own brands, FBI services all the major Grocery, Mass, Club and Food Service customers in Canada either directly or through distributor and broker relationships.

Additionally, FBI has co-developed and launched a variety of “own-label” and private label programs with a wide range of blue-chip, recognized retailers and food service companies across North America.

LOCATION :

This position will be based primarily out of our Edmonton, Alberta facility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

  • Develop and maintain detailed production schedules to meet customer orders and inventory targets.
  • Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely availability of raw materials and packaging.
  • Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as necessary to address delays or changes in demand.
  • Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • Collaborate with sales and demand planning teams to incorporate forecast changes into production schedules.
  • Ensure optimal inventory levels of finished goods, raw materials, and packaging to meet production and customer requirements.
  • Communicate production plans and changes effectively to manufacturing teams and stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate production planning records and ensure data integrity in planning systems.
  • Work closely with supply chain and quality assurance teams to address production issues or constraints.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to align production strategies with business goals.

EDUCATION AND PREREQUISITES :

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in production planning, supply chain, or related roles in food manufacturing or a similar industry.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in production planning software and tools.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, capacity planning, and inventory management principles.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and ERP systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across departments.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • APICS certification (CPIM or CSCP) is a plus.
