Hi my client is seeking a Commercial Sales Broker based in Edmonton. This role is responsible for developing and managing a portfolio of commercial insurance clients by identifying, prospecting, and securing new business opportunities while maintaining strong, long-term relationships. This role involves assessing client needs, advising on appropriate insurance solutions, and collaborating with internal underwriting teams and external insurance markets to place policies that align with business requirements. As the primary point of contact for clients, the Commercial Sales Broker ensures ongoing service, policy renewals, and risk management support. Success in this role requires a results-driven approach, deep market knowledge, and a commitment to delivering exceptional client service.

Responsibilities
  • Proactively source and develop relationships with prospective clients seeking commercial insurance coverage, ensuring a steady pipeline of new business opportunities.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of client insurance needs, identifying potential risks and recommending appropriate coverage solutions.
  • Research and compare insurance products from various markets to secure optimal coverage aligned with client business requirements.
  • Negotiate policy terms, pricing, and conditions with insurance markets to provide clients with competitive and tailored solutions.
  • Work closely with commercial underwriting teams to ensure policies are accurately structured and compliant with company guidelines.
  • Educate clients on policy terms, coverage limits, exclusions, and risk management strategies to support informed decision-making.
  • Facilitate the end-to-end sales process, from initial consultation through policy issuance and ongoing servicing.
  • Maintain and grow a portfolio of commercial clients by providing exceptional service, proactive communication, and annual policy reviews.
  • Handle policy renewals efficiently by reassessing client needs, negotiating with insurers, and presenting updated coverage recommendations.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, advocating for their needs with insurance markets and assisting with policy modifications as necessary.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of client interactions, coverage details, and policy transactions within CRM and internal systems.
  • Participate in industry networking events, professional development opportunities, and training sessions to enhance knowledge and client service capabilities.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including leadership and underwriting teams, to develop strategies that drive business growth and client retention.
  • Conduct risk assessments and loss control discussions with clients to help them mitigate potential exposures and improve insurability.
  • Maintain compliance with industry regulations, licensing requirements, and ethical standards to uphold company reputation and professional integrity.
Qualifications
  • An active and current insurance broker license for the relevant provincial regulatory body (, RIBO)
  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a sales-focused insurance brokerage role, preferably in Commercial Lines.
  • Experience in lead generation, business development, or client acquisition in the insurance industry.
  • Strong understanding of insurance products, underwriting principles, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency in using policy management and CRM systems to manage client interactions and track business development efforts.
