The Bridges and Civil and Offshore Structures (BCOS) team undertakes exciting and challenging engineering mandates for major bridge and transit projects throughout Canada, including those of the Technical Advisor role to Metrolinx for the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension and for the GO Rail Expansion - On Corridor Works (OnCorr), the design of the Keating Channel footbridge for Waterfront Toronto, the Technical Advisor role to Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) for the replacement of the iconic Alexandra Bridge in Ottawa and the Technical Advisor to the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility (MTMD) for the replacement of the 2km Ile d'Orléans Bridge with a 430m cable stay span near Quebec City.
The Senior Bridge Engineer will be based in our Toronto Office in a Hybrid working environment. They will join our team engaged in the planning, design, procurement, and construction phases of the 9.2km long Eglinton Crosstown West Extension (ECWE) light rail. The ECWE project includes underground and elevated stations, tunnels, 1.4km of elevated guideway and other civil engineering structures and require a senior resource with experience in railway, highway and pedestrian bridge design to support our Client Metrolinx in various contracts at different stages of the project.
The opportunity
- Develop concept, preliminary and detailed design of bridges, culverts, retaining walls and other civil structures, predominantly railway structures.
- Oversee and review calculations and designs performed by engineers and EITs.
- Conduct quality control activities for independent review and checking of structural designs.
- Coordinate with and direct CAD production activities for drawing production.
- Lead a team in the preparation of construction specifications and tender documentation.
- Manage smaller projects and clients to ensure projects are delivered on time and budget and to high quality standards.
- Attend meetings with client to present deliverables, review design issues and carry out overall project coordination.
- Contribute to the proposal preparation effort for bridge design projects as needed.

Toronto Hiring Range – The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Toronto is $95,000 to $105,000 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Toronto will differ.
