Arcadis is looking for a Senior Bridge Engineer with proven experience to Lead a team of Senior professionals and technical experts.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the service quality delivery within the unit; develop and oversee the implementation of the strategy to ensure service quality delivery, service excellence and profitable growth within the unit, to support the delivery of the line of business objectives.

The Bridge team is involved in the pursuit and delivery of major bridge and structure rehabilitation and design projects across Ontario.

As well as guiding the direction of the group, you will use your knowledge and understanding of bridge engineering and construction methods to manage and successfully deliver multidisciplinary bridge inspection, analysis, rehabilitation, and design projects for both private and public sector clients, from planning through to detailed design stages and into construction.

Key Accountabilities :

  • Lead, motivate and develop a diverse team of senior specialists by recruiting, setting objectives and reviewing performance to ensure staff are developed, driven and have the necessary skills to deliver the programme objectives
  • Develop and implement the business plan for the unit and ensure the team understand it, and the role that they play in its achievement, through the development of the appropriate culture and the provision of context and clarity
  • Lead the identification and targeting of clients through the delivery of service excellence to deliver growth in organic revenue in the business unit.
  • Develop enduring relationships with clients to understand their business needs and ensure client satisfaction to improve retention and deliver organic revenue growth
  • Coach and mentor team leaders and service leaders to ensure all projects are set up for success and appropriate governance is adhered to, in order to improve client satisfaction
  • Producing, supervising, and managing the creation of engineering products on a wide variety of small to large bridge rehabilitation and new design projects from concept through construction that meet and exceed customer quality requirements.
  • Leading a team to define the problem, establish the work scope, prepare budgets and schedules, plan the work, and provide technical direction and oversight.
  • Preparing and checking detailed engineering calculations and models, drawings, specifications, quantities and cost estimates, detailed technical reports, procurement documents, design packages, proposals, and detailed analyses
  • Providing technical engineering services during construction, including the review of contractor submissions
  • Performing inspections of existing complex bridges and other structures including coordinating and leading inspection teams and specialized sub-consultants, providing renewal and repair recommendations, and completing life cycle cost analyses
  • Leading successful project pursuits, including determining budget estimates and staffing requirements and writing winning proposals
  • Providing input and technical guidance to CAD Designer / Drafters, Designers, and less experienced Engineers working on the same and other projects

Qualifications

You'll have :

  • 4-year degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • 15 years or more of recent progressive related bridge engineering design experience, including inspection, analysis, load-rating, design, and construction experience.

Seismic analysis and design experience is an asset.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and collaborative skills.
  • Ability to provide effective technical mentoring to less experienced engineers.
  • Must be a licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario, Alberta or BC.
  • Proficiency with the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CSA S6). Working knowledge of any of AT Standards, ON MOT standards and BC MOTI standards is a must.
  • Technical knowledge of bridge engineering design and analysis principles.
  • Excellent technical report writing experience and skills.
  • Proficiency in 3D modelling analysis software (CSI Bridge or MIDAS Civil) is a must.
