MY COMMUNICATIONS AND ENGAGEMENT TEAM

The MSA Communication Team is a department within the Student Experience Team (Communications & Engagement Events & Communities and Student Services) that handles the core communication execution responsibilities at the MSA.

Informing inviting and inspiring students how and when they need it connecting them to the MSA and our offerings.

What you do

The Brand Ambassador Team Member is responsible for enhancing the student experience through inviting informing and inspiring all Mohawk Students to engage and participate in MSA opportunities events workshops and promotions at all campuses and partner locations. You will work closely with the Communications and Engagement team to put together compelling social media deliverables and in-person activations to increase our brand reach and visibility while also providing content that is relevant and relatable to Mohawk students.

What Success Looks Like in This Role

You are outgoing friendly and your charisma allows you to easily spark up a conversation with a fellow student. Social media trends and best practices are easy for you to incorporate into content creation and you enjoy being in front of the camera. You have a passion for inspiring informing and inviting students and look to help the MSA build a welcoming inclusive student experience for all. Just like social media trends you are able to quickly pivot and adapt all while keeping a positive collaborative energy. Taking initiative is something that comes natural to you along with excellent organization skills and strong attention to detail. You think out-of-the-box and are always looking for ways to peak student interest through in-person activations.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Support the Communications and Engagement team with MSA student-focused messaging promoting all MSA initiatives
  • Assist with strategic ideation production and posting of social media deliverables and in-person activations
  • Gather feedback from fellow students to help the MSA plan for future ways to best support students

    Responsibilities

  • Informs invites and inspires fellow students to participate in upcoming MSA events services and in-person engagement activations Helps in creating compelling social media posts on all MSA channels
  • Scheduling social media content
  • Provides ideas on trends and ways to incorporate best practices on social media in an effort to increase MSA brand visibility and awareness
  • Supports the MSA in reaching students through in-person engagement activations
  • Gathers feedback from students to help plan for future initiatives and engagement activations
  • Works towards helping connect students with the MSA brand and aids in educating that all students are the MSA
  • Assists in sharing visibility to MSA initiatives to other student staff and general Mohawk student body
  • Embodies MSA mission vision and value statements
  • What you need in education experience and training

  • Must be a full-time student currently enrolled in a Mohawk college program (enrolled Summer 2024 or returning Fall 2024)
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Must be available to work based on the business needs of the department through your school schedule
  • Skills you will require

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word Excel and Outlook
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms best practices and understanding how to incorporate trends (Instagram Facebook YouTube and LinkedIn)
  • Comfortability being featured on camera for both photo and video deliverables
  • Strong video editing skills (for social media) using software (CapCut)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Charismatic outgoing and positive energy and attitude
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent skills in arts and crafts
  • Physical Demands / Work Environment

  • Standard work hours are up to 15 hours per week. This may include evenings and weekends when required based on the programming calendar.
  • Travel between campuses may be required
  • Able to work in a variety of event related settings that may involve sitting standing lifting and transporting.
