The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology in the Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto invites applications for two full-time, tenure stream positions. The appointments will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025.

We are seeking two emerging leaders to join our vibrant and collaborative basic science research community, who will develop an outstanding, innovative research program to address fundamental biological questions pertinent to health and disease. The successful candidates will complement the Department’s existing research strengths in cellular and molecular biology, microbiology, artificial intelligence, cancer, brain and neurosciences, cardiovascular, regenerative medicine, and other translational research as applied to human disease. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in life sciences, mechanisms of disease or a related field, and at least 3 years of postdoctoral experience, with a demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching. The successful candidates are expected to mount an original, independent, and externally funded research program, and to actively participate in the delivery of undergraduate and graduate curriculum.

Candidates must provide evidence of research excellence, which can be demonstrated by a record of publications in leading journals in the field, the submitted research statement, awards received, as well as strong letters of reference.

Evidence of excellence in teaching is demonstrated through teaching accomplishments which could include performance as a teaching assistant or course instructor, experience leading workshops or seminars, student mentorship and / or conference presentations, as well as strong letters of reference.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The successful candidates will join the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology (LMP), which is nationally and internationally renowned as a premier location for biomedical, life sciences, and clinical research and education.
