The Team :

The Ministry of Forests Natural Resource Officer Service (NROS) delivers a full range of compliance and enforcement activities including education promotion and compliance with regulatory requirements and conducting major environmental investigations. The NROS supports the management and delivery of compliance and enforcement activities in a manner that is timely appropriate and consistent with the mandate of the Ministry.

The Role :

The role of the Natural Resource Officer (NRO) involves conducting inspections compliance testing and investigations to ensure adherence to legislation regulations or licence conditions. This includes identifying non-compliance imposing fines or recommending further sanctions when necessary. The NRO also requires gathering evidence in preparation for quasi-judicial or criminal court proceedings. Your work will help to directly protect the land water forests and cultural resources of British Columbia ensuring the publics interest in the management of these diverse natural resources. Qualifications :

Education and Experience Requirements :

• Applied degree or diploma in a program of natural resource law enforcement; OR
• University degree or technical diploma in natural resource management; OR
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Must have and maintain a valid BC Class 5 Drivers licence or equivalent or be immediately eligible to attain one.
• Preference may be given to those with a professional membership in a natural resource discipline (e.g. Registered Forest Technologist (RFT) with Forest Professionals BC (FPBC) Registered Professional Biologist (RPBio) with the BC College of Applied Biologists (CAB) or related designation).

About this Position :

This position can be based in any of the following Ministry of Forests Natural Resource Officer Service offices in the South Area : Castlegar Cranbrook Penticton Revelstoke Vernon.

This position has full time on-site requirements.

Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.

An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies for the South Area.

A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
