Position Overview

The District of North Vancouver is looking for a talented IT professional to join the District’s IT Infrastructure team on a one (1) year temporary full-time opportunity as a Network Analyst to build, manage, and support the District’s IT Infrastructure.

What we can offer you

In this position you will be part of a team responsible for the secure and efficient operation of the organization’s networks, servers, storage, telecommunications equipment, and cloud services. You will be focused on the roll-out of the District’s new Aruba Network, replacing Cisco devices across the organization.

What you’ll be doing

As part of the IT Infrastructure team, reporting to the Manager – IT and Cybersecurity, you will :

• Work closely with the Network Administrator to configure and deploy Aruba gateways, switches, and access points across the network displacing a current Cisco environment
• As part of the Aruba deployment, move the network to a new subnet addressing scheme.
• Work offset hours as required to minimize downtime caused by network replacement.
• Perform a variety of network administration tasks related to routers and switches, access points, VPNs, and network security
• Act as the first line of escalation for the Service Desk for issues related to networks.
• Exercise independent judgment and take actions within established guidelines, deciding when to escalate more complex tasks and problems to senior technical specialists or the vendor.
• Monitor systems and networks for alerts, taking actions to resolve or escalate as appropriate.
• Perform daily maintenance tasks to ensure reliable and efficient operation of systems and networks.

Configuration of Aruba gateways, switches and access points

It’s great if you have

Fibre Optic Infrastructure (i.e. in-ground fibre cabling)

Microsoft Azure IaaS administration

Salary : The pay range for this unionized position is $44.22 to $52.21 per hour (2024 rates)

Hours of Work : 35-hour work week (Compressed work schedule available)

Remote Work : This position is not eligible for remote work.
