A Municipal Specialist will perform a variety of tasks which may include the development of CAD drawings and contract specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports. Though most of our work focuses on collaboration, there are some tasks that would require working individually to perform a variety of assignments which may include calculations, field work, and coordination of tasks.

Your Responsibilities

  • Drafting and Design : Create engineering drawings for municipal projects using AutoCAD and Civil 3D, including plans, profiles, grading, cross-sections, and surface designs for water, stormwater, wastewater systems, and roadways, from concept to completion.
  • Standards and Compliance : Adhere to local municipal design guidelines, client requirements, and regulatory standards, ensuring all work meets CAD standards, quality assurance, and quality control protocols.
  • Survey Integration : Incorporate topographic survey data into designs and update record drawings with as-built survey information.
  • Corridor Modeling : Develop corridor models based on specific design parameters to align with project objectives.
  • Vehicle Path Analysis : Perform vehicle turn and swept path analyses using software tools such as AutoTURN or Vehicle Tracking.
  • Project Support : Provide expertise and input on municipal and transportation projects, including new developments and rehabilitation initiatives.
  • Team Collaboration : Work closely with Project Engineers, Technologists, and Project Managers to support planning, design, drafting, and preparation of construction plans, bid documents, technical specifications, and cost estimates for civil engineering projects.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering or Civil, Water, Environmental, or Design Drafting Technology program diploma, + 6 years experience in municipal or transportation engineering projects
  • 3 years experience with Civil 3D, with an emphasis on municipal engineering projects, roadway projects and site grading
  • Valid BC Class V Driver's License
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Eligible for registration in British Columbia with the Engineering and Geoscience British Columbia (EGBC) or other technical accreditation is an asset.
  • Minimum of two years of transportation engineering related co-op, internship, or full-time work experience is preferred.
  • Familiar with water distribution and stormwater and wastewater collection.
  • Field experience in the construction and execution of municipal projects is a benefit.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Good communication skills and a willingness to work in a team environment.
  • Additional Information
