Electrical Engineer – HVDC and FACTS Study Engineer

Join BBA and make the most of your expertise by contributing to major HVDC and FACTS projects that shape tomorrow’s power systems. You’ll play a key role in delivering innovative solutions for our clients, from early‑stage studies to implementation. The position offers the chance to work closely with industry leaders, mentor the next generation, and represent BBA in technical committees.
Responsibilities
- Perform detailed HVDC and FACTS studies and apply them to complex power systems
- Work with clients, project managers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high‑quality solutions
- Guide, mentor and train junior engineers in HVDC / FACTS technologies
- Represent BBA in technical committees and industry working groups
- Maintain strong client relationships and contribute to business development activities
- Prepare and review reports, specifications, proposals and estimates
Qualifications
Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. in electrical engineeringP.Eng. designation or eligibility for registrationAt least 10 years of industry experience, including 5+ years in HVDC / FACTSExpertise in HVDC / FACTS studies and related codes and standardsExpert PSCAD userProficient in PSSEStrong communication and critical‑thinking skillsAbility to travel within Canada, the USA and internationally for short‑term assignmentsProject management knowledge (scoping, planning, estimating)Familiarity with electrical protection and control systemsKnowledge of IEEE, NEC or IEC standardsKnowledgeable in real‑time simulationBenefits & Rewards
