Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 -- Chief Executive Officer

The Invictus Games, born from the visionary spirit of Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, embody a celebration of courage and resilience among wounded, injured, and sick armed services personnel.

Prince Harry's global sporting event concept, initiated in 2014 in London, brought together military personnel from diverse nations in adaptive sports.

The term "Invictus," meaning unconquered or undefeated in Latin, encapsulates the determination and strength displayed by these athletes in overcoming adversity.

On February 8th, 2025, The Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025 ( Invictus Games 2025 ) will mark a historic moment, welcoming up to 550 competitors from 25 nations for the first-ever Invictus Games to feature winter sports.

True Patriot Love's triumph set the stage for this achievement, establishing a dedicated Games board led by Don Lindsay.

Over nine days, British Columbia will host teams in 11 sports, including sitting volleyball, wheelchair rugby, basketball, indoor rowing, curling, swimming, alpine skiing, snowboarding, skeleton, Nordic skiing, and Biathlon.

Supported by organizations like True Patriot Love, the Governments of Canada and BC, and the Invictus Games Foundation, competitors and their families will experience the best of Vancouver and Whistler.

Events at iconic locations such as Vancouver Convention Center, Hillcrest Center, UBC Aquatic Center, Whistler Olympic Park, Whistler Sliding Center, Rogers Arena, and Whistler Blackcomb will showcase the unrivaled power of sport in aiding recovery.

To fulfill commitments outlined in the bid, Invictus Vancouver Whistler 2025, under the leadership of Don Lindsay, has raised over $42 million, secured significant sponsors including the lead sponsor ATCO, negotiated major contracts, and established venues and the event calendar.

With a robust board and 32 dedicated staff, a work plan is in place to expand the team to over 100 in the new year.

In collaboration with key stakeholders like True Patriot Love, the Governments of Canada and BC, and the Invictus Games Foundation, the board has retained Boyden to lead the search for an experienced, strategic-thinking Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

The successful candidate needs to bring operational, financial, governance, engagement, and risk mitigation expertise to deliver the first-ever Winter Games in a manner that aligns with the vision and mission of the games and meets the expectations of competitors and their families.

Ensuring the well-being and safety of the competitors is at the forefront of every decision, contingency plans, and risk mitigation strategies are in place, partner and sponsor contracts are managed, SOPs are in place and the marketing strategy is driving community engagement and ticketing.

Ensuring the games leave a legacy that supports mental health, recovery from trauma, inclusion, and accessibility will be core to success.

This is a fifteen-month assignment to see the games through to the dissolution of the organization.

In accordance with BC’s Pay Transparency Act, the expected base salary for this role is in the $250,000 range per year.
