Overview :
Our client is seeking a capable Estimator with 5+ years of experience to join their team. This full-time role focuses 100% on estimating, with the potential to lead the estimating department over time.
Commercial painting experience is an asset. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented, organized professional with excellent communication skills, able to manage the estimating process from start to handoff to production.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead Estimating Process : Take charge of preparing detailed take-offs and estimates by reviewing proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents to produce accurate and competitive bids.
- Order Materials : Coordinate the procurement of paint, coatings, wall coverings, and other necessary materials to meet the specific requirements of each commercial project.
- Project Setup Coordination : Manage the initial setup of jobs and ensure a seamless transition to the production team for project execution.
- Bid Calendar Management : Collaborate with the lead estimator to build and maintain a client bidding database, prioritize projects, and organize the bidding schedule.
- Client Relations : Serve as the face of the company during the estimating
- phase, acting as the primary point of contact for clients, building strong relationships, and representing the company with professionalism and integrity.
- Cost Tracking : Conduct project cost analysis by identifying labor, material, and time requirements, and manage project estimates using manual takeoffs in Excel.
- Team Collaboration : Work closely with other team members, including the production team and operations management, to ensure alignment on project scope and requirements.
Qualifications :
- Experience : 5+ years in an estimating role, ideally within the construction or commercial painting industry.
- Technical Skills : Proficient in MS Excel for budgeting, cost tracking, and managing project data. Experience with other project management tools is a plus.
- Blueprint Proficiency : Able to read and interpret blueprints, maps, and technical drawings accurately.
- Organizational Skills : Strong ability to multitask, manage time effectively, and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Interpersonal Skills : Excellent communication skills with a focus on building rapport with clients and fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Self-Motivation : Positive attitude, high attention to detail, and eagerness to work in a busy team-oriented environment.
Compensation and Benefits :
- Base Salary : $75,000, with a discretionary year-end performance bonus.
- Vehicle Allowance : $150 biweekly.
- Health Spending Accoun t : $1,500 annually.
