We are currently seeking a Safety Advisor, Drilling and Camps to join our Safety team. The successful candidate will contribute to a team of highly experienced and qualified safety professionals.
This full-time, permanent position is based in Calgary and reports to the Manager, Safety Operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Primary support to Capital Projects activities, specifically Drilling and Camps, in alignment with the ARC Integrated Management System (AIMS)
- Assist in the development of project execution plans, through planning support and executional assurance
- Proactively partner with business units in providing technical health and safety inputs to risk assessments, hazard assessments, control implementation, incident investigations, and safety fundamentals
- Monitor health and safety performance, conduct internal audits, and verify compliance to AIMS
- Foster a culture, identify opportunities, and work proactively with the team to continuously improve operational health and safety
- Manage and facilitate contractor health and safety audits, including pre-contract reviews and system compliance
- Participate in pre-job risk assessments, concurrent operations planning, and contractor management
- Identify, evaluate, and communicate incident trends within Capital Projects per discipline
- Coach and mentor field leaders on implementation and best practices related to work instruction, direction, and documentation aligned to AIMS and OHS requirements of Prime Contractor
- Mentor and train ARC Onsite Supervisors on AIMS and key initiative implementation
- Field travel of approximately 30% to Grande Prairie and Dawson Creek operation areas will be required
QUALIFICATIONS :
- A minimum of 10 years of upstream oil & gas health and safety related experience
- A post-secondary degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or a related field is beneficial
- CRSP certification is required; those applicants who are currently completing the CRSP will be considered if they meet all other criteria
- Extensive experience with incident management, including root cause analysis such as TapRooT or Systematic Cause Analysis Technique (SCAT)
- Extensive experience with internal auditing systems
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Highly proficient verbal and written communication skill set
- Exceptional knowledge of provincial OH&S legislation and regulations across Alberta and British Columbia, including industry best practices
As this role is considered a safety sensitive position, the finalist candidate will be required to successfully complete D&A testing.
