Senior Property Accountant

Salary : $75,000 – $90,000
Reports to : Managing Broker / Owner
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Property Accountant to oversee all accounting, trust, payroll, and compliance functions of a growing real estate brokerage. This is a hands-on leadership role supporting residential, commercial, and property management operations, with a strong focus on BCFSA trust compliance and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee full-cycle accounting (AP / AR, payroll, reconciliations, reporting)
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Manage and reconcile brokerage trust accounts in compliance with BCFSA audit standards
- Process and review agent commission payouts
- Oversee accounting for trading, property management, rental, and presale divisions
- Monitor cash flow, forecasting, and financial performance
Property Management & Compliance
Supervise Junior Accountant (rent collections, disbursements, trust reconciliations)Review monthly landlord statementsPrepare and file GST and NR4 withholding tax reportsPayroll, HR & Leadership
Manage bi-weekly payroll, benefits, and statutory deductionsSupport hiring, onboarding, and performance management of administrative staffBudgeting, Controls & AuditLead budgeting and variance analysisMaintain internal controlsPrepare for BCFSA trust audits and year-end reviewsLiaise with banks on credit facilitiesQualifications
