SGS Canada is seeking to recruit an office-based Operations and Quality Supervisor responsible for the Management & Supervision of staff working across a variety of contracts.
We are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual with experience and a proven track record within the Operations and Service Delivery sector.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience in both Supervisory and Client-facing roles and the capability to manage challenging KPI's for internal and external customers.
The role will also involve a high level of administration, employee engagement and will require excellent attention to detail.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following activities SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITES : -HSE responsibility for all employees under Marine Services Group -Receive instructions from customers and provide technical advice as maybe necessary.
- Develop new service offerings to increase revenue. -Continuous contact with customers to discuss operational issues and service improvements.
- Maintain close contact with industry players and keeping abreast of the developments within the shipping and logistics industries.
- Prepare and submit proposals. -Participate in developing standards and be familiar with bulk handling standards. -Provide technical advice to internal and external customers with respect to the logistic and shipping industries.
- Receive appointments from customers and review the inspection requirements. Prepare and submit proposals as necessary. -Receive SGS corporate guidelines and disseminate to staff for implementation -Direct staff for all upcoming jobs and ensure service requirements are carried out.
- Ensure SOPs are created and updated. -Champion and lead SIR Program Training in conjunction with Operations Supervisor and Field supervisor.
- Monitor performance of employees under Marine Services. -Support any other duties that may be assigned by Manager Qualifications Education : College degree or bachelor's degree in a relevant field Experience : More than 3 years of experience with quality control systems, including ISO.
Specific technical skills : -Strong working knowledge of the industry. -Excellent capabilities in spoken and written French and English.
Working knowledge of MS Office applications including spreadsheet and word-processing software is required, i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, Windows as well as business enterprise operating systems (i.
e. Oracle). -Organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are essential. -Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and the general population as efficiently as possible.
- Ability to work as a team, take initiatives and show leadership when necessary. -Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to prioritize and plan effectively. -Excellent knowledge of quality and legal standards, both at the national and international levels.
- Ability to operate to the highest standards of ethics, in accordance with the SGS Statement of Integrity. -A sense of diplomacy and networking skills are essential for building relationships with external clients as well as with key internal personnel.
- Must be creative, innovative and client focused. -Must use skilled judgment in identifying sales opportunities, closing business and resolving customer related issues.
- Must be able to read, understand and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate and timely manner. -Proven ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fast-paced, highly professional environment.
- Candidates must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills including grammar and composition. -Works well under pressure.
- Extended hours and shift work may be required from time to time. -Travel to other SGS locations or client location may be required from time to time.
