We are a First Nations school located in Northern Ontario James Bay, with an enrollment of 130+ students in Grades 7-12.
A Cree community with a population of 3000+ that is accessible by river boat and winter road. We offer a competitive salary based on experience and qualifications, a travel and relocation allowance, and a fully furnished housing unit with subsidized rent. QUALIFICATIONS :
- Current registration and in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT)
- Minimum Bachelor of Education Degree
- Qualifications in Social Sciences and Humanities REQUIREMENTS :
- Submit cover letter with application package
- Submit copies of credentials, if not currently registered with OCT Must submit copies of all credentials with resume
- Submit a current CPIC (Canadian Police Information Centre) with Vulnerable Sector
- Submit two recent supervisor work references and one personal character reference to resume with permission to contact
- First Aid and CPR certification or willing to obtain within a reasonable period
- Strong communication skills are required for working with students, parents, staff members and consultants
- Ability to work as a member of a professional team and a willingness to participate in the school learning philosophy
- Ability to adapt curriculum to meet a range of learning styles and abilities
- Ability to deliver appropriate Individual Education Plans within the classroom
- A willingness to be flexible in teaching assignments
- A willingness to live in an isolated community and participate as a member of the community
