Job Description Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Farm Machinery Mechanic to join our team. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of agricultural machinery and equipment used in farming operations.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring machinery such as tractors, harvesters, plows, and irrigation systems function efficiently and safely.
This position demands expertise in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, along with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in agricultural machinery.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on equipment, ensuring optimal performance.
- Utilize diagnostic tools, schematics, and repair manuals to troubleshoot equipment problems.
- Service and repair diesel engines, transmissions, and powertrains specific to farm machinery.
- Maintain, adjust, and calibrate precision agriculture technology, including GPS and automated systems.
- Handle basic welding and fabrication tasks for equipment modifications or repairs.
- Keep detailed maintenance and repair records for all serviced equipment.
- Work both in the shop and on-site at farms or agricultural facilities as needed.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in agricultural technology, diesel mechanics, or a related field is preferred.
- Certification in agricultural equipment repair (e.g., ASE or equivalent) is a plus.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with farm machinery or agricultural equipment.
Other Skills & Requirements
- Ability to lift and handle heavy equipment and tools (up to 50 lbs or more).
- Willingness to work in outdoor environments, exposed to varying weather conditions.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with computerized diagnostics and agricultural equipment software.
- Knowledge of precision agriculture technologies, such as GPS guidance and auto-steering systems.
- Welding and fabrication experience.
