Summary of Position :

The Architect, either senior or intermediate level, will support the principals on projects. Our client is looking for someone who has experience in all project phases and can independently manage clients, teams and schedules with a high degree of professionalism.

Role Responsibilities :

  • Assist or lead in all phases of design, from concept through construction administration
  • Prepare project documents, including drawings, specifications, and reports
  • Conduct field observations and site visits to monitor progress and ensure compliance with contract
  • documents
  • Attend client meetings and job site meetings as needed
  • Perform quality control reviews of project deliverables
  • Research code requirements and develop solutions to complex technical problems
  • Develop alternative design solutions and analyze their feasibility
  • Coordinate the work of consultants, engineers, and other disciplines involved in the project
  • Manage the production of construction documents
  • Bring a collaborative and enthusiastic attitude
  • Serve as a mentor to junior staff

Qualifications :

  • 5+ years post graduate experience, preferably in BC
  • Registered or eligible to be registered as an architect with AIBC
  • Passionate about design and dedicated to design excellence
  • Familiar with all aspects of the architect’s role in the design and construction process
  • Strong knowledge of concrete + wood construction
  • Good understanding of building envelope, building detailing and building systems, as well as BCBC & VBBL
  • Familiar with sustainable design strategies and superior building energy performance targets
  • Proficient with Revit, Adobe suite, Office suite and Bluebeam
  • Experience coordinating engineering and consultant teams
  • Excellent graphic and written / verbal communication skills
  • Experience with all stages of permitting and municipal processes
