GFL Environmental is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Operations Supervisor to join our dynamic team in Coquitlam, BC!

The Job :

The Operations Supervisor will be responsible for developing a thorough understanding of the Company’s transportation requirements and patterns.

They will review and process day-to-day operations, evaluate and recommend equipment needs, and plan and schedule appropriate service lines to maintain a cost-effective balance between customer service and the cost of service.

They will ensure compliance with all government related programs specific to mode and direction of related haulage.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Oversee and optimize day-to-day operations, including transportation and service planning.
  • Monitor and maintain cost-effective operations while prioritizing excellent customer service.
  • Communicate and coordinate with dispatch, drivers, and other departments for efficient scheduling and service delivery.
  • Conduct regular driver performance reviews and organize training to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Investigate and manage accidents and incidents, ensuring timely reporting and resolution.
  • Organize and approve driver vacation requests while balancing operational needs.
  • Provide leadership and support to product line personnel, including recruitment and performance management.

Requirements :

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • 2-3 years of supervisory experience, preferably in waste management or transportation
  • Familiarity with WHMIS, the Highway Traffic Act, and safety regulations
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite) for managing data and reports.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours and travel as needed.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proactive approach to promoting safety and preventing accidents.
  • Skilled in investigating incidents and preparing required documentation.
  • Capable of organizing safety meetings and routine route observations
