Why is this role important?
Through the Hub Program initiative, CIHI is reimagining how to present data and information on cihi.ca to improve user experience, keep pace with today’s technologies and simplify internal processes.
- The Senior Analyst is responsible for various activities to support the development, ongoing enhancement and operations of the data and information products that will delivered through the Hub Program Roadmap including planning and conducting analyses;
- synthesizing and presenting information; critically reviewing information sources such as research literature and technical documents;
and development and enhancement of standards. The incumbent will contribute to process improvement initiatives, stakeholder engagement and strategic planning.
What you'll do
1.Participates in various matrix project teams focused on the development and ongoing enhancement and maintenance of the data and information products that will be delivered through the program.
2.Plans, leads and executes analyses in support of projects and activities. Synthesizes and presents results. Critically reviews and summarizes information such as research / grey literature and technical documents.
3.Contributes to process improvement initiatives focused on improving timeliness, flexibility and operational efficiency.
4.Contributes to the planning and execution of internal and external engagement activities.
5.Participates in business and methodological discussions with relevant CIHI departments and liaises with other teams to ensure coordination and synergy.
6.Participates in the development of test strategies; writes and executes test cases.
7.Develops and maintains knowledge of CIHI’s data holdings, master data and metadata and the processes and tools used by CIHI to manage, access, analyze and report on these data holdings.
8.Maintains current knowledge about analytical techniques.
9.Contributes to overall planning activities for the program.
10.Represents CIHI at relevant meetings and conferences, as required.
11.Provides regular updates to project leads and Manager, as required.
What you'll bring to the table
- Undergraduate degree in health information, mathematics / statistics / biostatistics or similar field. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Three to five years’ of experience in healthcare-related information management, data processing or analytical environment.
- Advanced experience using R or Python to manipulate data and draw insights from large datasets. In addition, experience with SAS is an asset.
- Strong conceptual and problem solving skills.
- Strong verbal communication skills; strong analytical and technical writing skills.
- Ability to synthesize data and information for different audiences, including strong data visualization skills.
- Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with CIHI databases, standards and health master data and a demonstrated understanding of data management best practices, including information quality
- Demonstrated understanding of the Canadian health care system and of the importance of performance management and reporting.
- Excellent planning and organizing skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work independently and under tight deadlines.
- Experience with business intelligence tools, such as MicroStrategy, Tableau, Qlik, Power BI, etc.
- Fluency in both official languages is an asset.
- Ability to meet light travel requirements.
