Journey-person Mechanic based out of Assiniboia
Job Summary
The Mechanic inspects, diagnoses, repairs and services mechanical, electrical and electronic systems and components of school buses, and other Division owned vehicles.
Education & Qualifications : A valid journeyperson certificate in motor mechanics. A minimum of Grade 12 diploma from a recognized educational institution as approved by the Board of Education of General Educational Development (GED) A vehicle safety inspection certificate A valid Class 1-5 driver’s license A minimum of two (2) years experience in school bus or heavy equipment repair A minimum of two (2) years experience with gas, propane, and diesel engines Must have own tools Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently in a time sensitive environment Must be very safety conscious Strong work ethic and positive team attitude Note : Consideration will be given to applicants who are in their 3rd or 4th year apprenticeship program and / or do not meet all of the minimum certification and experience requirements Physical Requirements : The ability to do heavy work is required (i.
e., exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and / or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects).
Employees must be physically fit and able to handle various tasks involving lifting, bending, twisting, turning, and climbing.
