Role Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Senior Forester, this position assists in ensuring the sustainability of the forest resources in the Peace River Forest Area.

You will be working at the operational level with industry forestry practitioners in the implementation of Annual Harvesting and Silviculture Plans and will strive to ensure compliance with legislation, policy, directives, approval conditions and approved plans.

You will work to lead the forest operations monitoring program and provide guidance to a team of inspectors who will inspect and monitor forest companies' harvesting and silvicultural activities while ensuring consistent standards are maintained and all policy directed targets for Reforestation, Operations and Timber Production Monitoring are met.

Ensuring forest sustainability of harvest practices is a critical objective of this role.

The position also acts as the Forest Area presentative on regional and provincial working groups as approved by the Senior Forester / Forest Area Manager and contributes knowledge towards regulation and policy / procedure development.

This position will provide assistance in wildfire prevention and operations. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a tangible impact on the sustainability of forest resources in the Peace River Forest Area.
