POSITION OVERVIEW

BDC Advisory Services supports the growth and development of Canadian entrepreneurs with the delivery of high-quality digital technology advisory (consulting) engagements.

The Business Advisor leads projects that are designed to help clients with impactful analysis, digital technology adoption strategies, planning and evaluation of suitable business software solutions or industry specific technology solutions, and other digital transformation initiatives including (but not limited to) AI strategy and adoption, cyber security, automation, etc.

The Business Advisor is primarily responsible for delivering successful client projects. They also actively support our business development team in client sales meetings (pre-sales), provide subject matter expertise, contribute to thought leadership and support various organizational initiatives.

The role requires solid business acumen and an understanding of the business and operational challenges faced by small and medium sized companies across various industries, and how technology can be leveraged to address those challenges.

In addition, it requires strategic thinking, strong project management skills and the ability to effectively manage client relationships.

The role will also be focused on emerging technologies and helping entrepreneurs better leverage data and artificial intelligence / machine learning (AI / ML) as part of their technology strategy.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET

Deliver a unique offering of technology advisory projects for clients including digital adoption plans, AI strategy & readiness projects, system selections and implementations support.

Lead multiple (concurrent) projects and ensure the desired objectives are achieved (managing project scope, resources, coordination, communication and timelines).

Work closely with BDC Network Consultants to deliver client projects, providing guidance, training and quality assurance.

Manage client and stakeholder relationships throughout the duration of the project (communication, expectation alignment, issue resolution).

Contribute knowledge and subject matter expertise on suitable business applications and platforms (e.g., ERP, CRM, MRP, WMS, BI, E-commerce) and related technologies for a wide range of client sizes and industries (e.

g., manufacturing, construction, distribution, retail, prof. services).

Work closely with the Business Development team providing sales support (pre-sales), client need assessments, prepare proposals and demonstrate knowledge, expertise and experience that will add value to clients and help sell new mandates.

Contribute to marketing and outreach activities to help promote our offerings.

Stay on top of digital technology trends and leverage this knowledge to support our clients and enhance our solutions and tools.

Act as expert within Advisory Services related to the business application of AI / ML.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business administration, commerce, or engineering with a focus on business or artificial intelligence, or commerce.

3-5 years of experience in a management / technology consulting environment.

Solid experience in leading client-facing technology consulting engagements.

Strong knowledge of various kinds of business applications and platforms (e.g., ERP, CRM, e-commerce), industry specific solutions and systems architecture.

Understanding of the business and operating challenges, processes, functional requirements, solutions and capabilities for key industries (e.

g. manufacturing, construction, wholesale / distribution, retail).

Experience in managing client-facing consulting projects and engagements.

Experience in business development or pre-sales for technology consulting.

Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills; bilingualism (French & English) is an asset.

Travel to client sites, within a limited geographic area, with occasional travel to other locations across Canada, if required.
