The Role

The successful candidate will work from the Halifax and / or St. John's office with the Estimating team and report to the Director of Estimating.

Responsibilities will include :

• Preparing quantity take-offs based on preliminary and construction drawings
• Generating project staffing plans and general expense estimates
• Creating schedules based on room data sheets
• Participating in design meetings, both in-town and out-of-town
• Holding meetings with subcontractors
• Conducting scope reviews and creating subcontractor tender packages
• Soliciting subcontractor and supplier information and pricing
• Analyzing design options and product alternates from both a capital expense and a Life Cycle cost perspective
• Preparing risk registries for projects
• Attending collaborative meetings and user group meetings with Owners and Consultants
• Reviewing design specifications for bid compliance
• Actively participating in the industry, client and community relations to enhance company image
• Promoting and practicing company values in a creative, innovative, and enjoyable work environment
• Maintaining and fostering positive long-term relationships with all business partners, including owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors

The Requirements

• 10 + years of experience in the general contracting industry and experience in ICI estimating
• Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or an equivalent construction program
• Eligible for or having attained PQS, CET or P. Eng designation
• Proficiency with On-Screen Take-Off, SmartBid, MS Project and Excel
