Our client is seeking a dedicated and highly organized Medical Receptionist to join their healthcare team on a casual contract basis.
As a Medical Receptionist, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional administrative support and ensuring the smooth operation of their medical practice.
This position is perfect for someone looking to expand their skills as a Medical Receptionist / Secretary. Key Responsibilities :
- Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
- Register and verify patient information, including insurance details, in our electronic health records system.
- Schedule and confirm appointments for patients, optimizing the daily schedule for healthcare providers.
- Answer phone calls and emails, addressing inquiries, providing information, and transferring calls to the appropriate department.
- Handle patient check-ins and check-outs efficiently, collecting co-payments, fees, and providing receipts as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and order in the waiting area and reception desk.
- Keep patient records confidential and ensure compliance with relevant privacy laws.
- Assist patients in completing required forms and documents.
- Coordinate with medical staff, nurses, and other team members to ensure a seamless patient experience.
- Manage and restock office and medical supplies as necessary.
- Assist with administrative tasks, such as filing, scanning, and data entry.
- Support the billing department by verifying insurance coverage and coding procedures.
- Contribute to a positive and cooperative work environment within the medical practice.
- Stay up-to-date with office policies, procedures, and industry regulations.
Qualifications :
- Completion of a Medical Office Administration, Medical Terminology diploma (or a related degree).
- Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting is a plus.
- Proficient in using electronic health records (EHR / EMR) and basic office software.
- Strong communication skills and a friendly, customer-focused demeanor.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and billing procedures is an advantage.
- Flexibility to work on a casual contract basis.
