Limited Term Contract Instructor, Recreation and Tourism

Duties :

With a teaching philosophy that involves applied and experiential learning, develop and prepare lessons, instruct, assess and grade student achievements in Recreation and Tourism programs.

Assist students individually through scheduled office hours and supervise graduate students.

• RMGT 101 (3 credits) Marketing Recreation Experiences
• TOUR 202 (3 credits) Understanding Visitor Behaviour
• TOUR 205 (3 credits) Tourism Management Principles and Practice
• TOUR 251 (3 credits) Market Research in Tourism
• TRMT 360 (3 credits) Experiential Product Development in Tourism
• TRMT 415 (3 credits) Project Management

Required Qualifications :

A Doctoral degree related to Tourism Management, Recreation or Leisure from an appropriately accredited institution and recent and relevant teaching and research experience is required.

Doctoral candidates (ABD) will be considered if the candidate can demonstrate completion within 6 months of appointment start date.

This position requires expertise in research methods and quantitative data analysis in the broad area of tourism, recreation, leisure management such as, experiential tourism, event management, tourist motivations and behaviours and / or recreation management and leadership.

A strong focus on teaching and student learning, demonstrated competency working effectively in a team-oriented environment and responsiveness to diverse learning styles, cultural and academic backgrounds.

Excellent communication skills, with a strong interest and proven abilities in working in a cross cultural and learning-centered environment, diverse learning styles, cultural and academic backgrounds.
