Process Engineer - Contract Job

Altogether, Tremco CPG companies operate 21 manufacturing facilities, 6 distribution sites, and 3 R&D / technology sites, and employ more than 2,700 people across North America.
This is a contract position since the plant is closing in 2026.
GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB :
The primary responsibility of the Process Engineer is to perform engineering design evaluations by creating, testing, investigating, and maintaining product procedures and work instructions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Maintain formulas, testing requirements and product recipes on relevant software.
- Create, maintain, and improve product procedures and work instructions. Conduct and participate in continuous improvement projects.
Identify gaps in training, and complete operator training of the work instructions and procedures.
- Determine disposition for off-spec (reject batch) and old product. Determine whether it should be scrap, re-worked, special sales, extend expiry and re-label or other solution.
- Work with corresponding departments to implement disposition action. New packaging or raw materials substitution, document and submit an Engineering Change Request (ECR).
- Complete trials, test batches, and evaluate for quality. When necessary submit samples to R&D. If successful, complete a second ECR to implement new packaging or raw material.
Define equipment acquisition requirements.
- complete audits with regulatory and inspection agencies. Maintain and update files. When necessary communicate information regarding machine spare parts and PM (Preventative Maintenance) program.
- Respond to all quality complaints pertaining to products and packaging. Complete an investigation and analysis to determine whether complaint is valid.
- Complete root cause analysis. Determine corrective and preventive actions, including recalling product.
- Communicate corrective actions to Customer Service, R&D, Marketing & Sales. Document findings and resulting actions into SAP.
- Through SAP, Assign tasks to various departments for corrective and preventive action. Follow-up to ensure completion.
- Run product trials on new product with R&D, complete test batches.
- Document and report on results. Create and complete operator training.
- Commission and validate equipment. Verify that new equipment runs according to the manufactures specifications by designing and completing test runs.
- Organize training and train operators as required.
- Day to day troubleshooting of equipment or production process complaints or concerns (ex. quality) from manufacturing.
Problem solve errors where there is a deviance from the normal process routine in production and packaging.

EDUCATION :
Undergraduate Degree (preferred studies in Chemical Engineering)
EXPERIENCE :
- 3-5 years of previous experience.
- Experience working in a chemical manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Knowledgeable in the application of Lean & six sigma tools, SPC data analysis using a statistical software such as minitab.

- The salary range for applicants in this position generally starts at $76,110 and goes up based on experience. This range is an estimate, based on potential employee qualifications, operations, needs, and other considerations permitted by law.
